Recently, kindergarten students from Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) celebrated the 100th day of school in style, donning beards, glasses and gray hair to portray centenarians. In addition to fun costumes, the students enjoyed plenty of clever 100th-day activities including, dressing up as 100-year-olds, singing 100th day songs, participating in a special 100th day scavenger hunt, crafting fruit loop necklaces and doing 100 exercises, like jumping jacks!

Raising Cane's Gingerbread House Raising Cane's gingerbread house created by art students at Trinity Christian Academy.

Middle and Upper School art students at Trinity Christian Academy in Addison created festive and fun gingerbread designs for the school’s annual gingerbread competition. This year's winners included a gingerbread Tesla truck and Raising Cane's restaurant. The gingerbread creations will be headed to Signature Pointe Retirement Community in Dallas for the residents to enjoy throughout the rest of the holiday season.

This year for the holidays, fourth-grade students at Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) collected 1,187 boxes for Operation Christmas Child, a national project to deliver gifts to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine and disease. Students at TCA filled the boxes with toys, books, notes and hygiene items.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization, with a mission to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items and school supplies. TCA students have partnered with the ministry for over 20 years and collected over 30,000 boxes for this project.

Last year, 1.6 million students in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT. The students were judged on a variety of information including a personal essay, letters of recommendation, their academic record and their PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test scores. More than 34,000 commended students throughout the nation were recognized for their exceptional academic promise.

Last year, 1.6 million students in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT. The students were judged on a variety of information including a personal essay, letters of recommendation, their academic record and their PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test scores. Recently, Frisco resident and student at Trinity Christian Academy (TCA), Zachary Coronado was honored in the 2020 National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP). The National Hispanic Recognition Program recognized approximately 5,000 students from among the more than 400,000 Hispanic and Latino students who took the PSAT. Colleges use this program to identify academically exceptional Hispanic/Latino students.

This year, Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) in Addison kicked off the school’s 50th first day with a fun first-day photo session for the students. Throughout the day, parents and students were encouraged to share photos from the first day of school online using the hashtags #firstdayTCA and #50YearsFaithful. In addition to the photo booth opportunity, as tradition dictated, TCA seniors arrived for their "last first day" with cars decorated by their parents.

Gaffney will succeed veteran coach, Don English, concluding a 37-year head-coaching career

Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) in Addison recently appointed Brian Gaffney as the new head baseball coach. Gaffney, who has more than 25 years of coaching experience, will take on the role of head baseball coach in the 2019/2020 school year. Prior to this, Gaffney served as TCA’s assistant baseball coach for a year. He succeeds former head and veteran baseball coach, Don English, who concludes a 37-year head-coaching career to take on the role of boy’s athletic director at TCA.

“We’re excited to have Brian join our team,” said English. “His experience and passion for coaching will enable him to positively impact the lives of our young athletes.”

Prior to joining TCA, Gaffney served as the head baseball coach at John Paul II (JPII) for over a decade. In this role, he took his team to the playoffs 11 of his 12 years coaching and was named District Coach of the Year five times. In addition to serving as the head baseball coach, he coached varsity football and coordinated the baseball, softball and tennis complexes at JPII.

Gaffney earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Sam Houston State University, where he played baseball throughout his education and joined his team earning the 1996 Southerland Conference Championship. A native North Texan, he grew up in Rockwall, where he played baseball and football in high school.

TCA’s athletic program includes 21 varsity-level sports (10 for boys and 11 for girls, including cheerleading and drill team), and athletes compete in the TAPPS 6A division. TCA has a long tradition of successful athletic programs and has a history of state championships in many sports. Numerous athletes in a variety of different sports have gone on to pursue athletics at the collegiate level, including many at the NCAA Division 1 level.
