2021 PRAP Scholarship Recipients Announced

Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic (PRAP) announced the award of five $1,000 scholarships to North Texas young women at the organization’s year-end meeting on May 19, 2021.  This year’s recipients are Meg Cartwright, Aubrie Rhodes, Ashleigh Somich, Alexandra Armer, and Peyton Furtick.

Meg Cartwright attends The University of Texas in Austin where she is pursuing a B.S. in Nursing.  She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, has served as Chaplain, University Panhellenic Council Recruitment Counselor, and ranks highest in chapter involvement out of 262 members.  Meg is a 2018 graduate of Plano Senior High School and is the daughter of Tom and Kristi Cartwright of Plano.

Aubrie Rhodes is a senior Accounting and Human Resource Management major at Baylor University.  She is Vice President of Finance and prior Recruitment Director for Alpha Delta Pi.  Aubrie graduated from Plano Senior High in 2018 and is the daughter of Deborah Burton-Rhodes and the late Edward Rhodes of Plano

Ashleigh Somich is a student at Texas A&M University and plans to graduate with a B.B.A. in Management Information Systems.  Ashleigh has held the positions of Director of Academic Affairs, Finance Specialist, and Recruitment Analyst for Alpha Delta Pi.  She is a 2018 graduate of Plano Senior High and is the daughter of Scott and Katherine Somich of Plano. 

Alexandra Armer will attend The University of Texas at Austin where she will major in Psychology. She is a 2021 graduate of Lake Highlands High School and is the daughter of Darrell and Christen Armer of Dallas.

Peyton Furtick will major in Engineering at Texas A&M University this fall.  She is a 2021 graduate of John Paul II High School and is the daughter of Jeremy and Sara Furtick of Murphy.

The applications are judged based on extracurricular involvement, leadership, community service, personal goals, and academic performance.  “Each year we are overwhelmed by the accomplishments of the young women who apply, and we’re extremely proud of the 2021 scholarship recipients,” said Diane Goebel, Scholarship Committee Chair.

“PRAP is dedicated to providing scholarship opportunities through our fundraising efforts,” said President, Kimberly Zinser.  “We are thrilled to support the educational dreams and Greek life involvement of these deserving young women.”

2020 PRAP Scholarship Recipients_Composite Photo.j 2020 PRAP Scholarship Recipients

Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic (PRAP) announces the award of four $1,000 scholarships to North Texas young women.  The recipients, Lindsey Bolding, Sydney Buehrig, Avery DeWolf, and Cadey Moore, were honored last week with “drive-by” celebrations.  Due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, PRAP members paraded by in decorated cars followed by a brief presentation outside of each recipient’s home, in lieu of the organization’s customary scholarship event. 

PRAP scholarships are awarded based on extracurricular involvement, leadership, community service, and academic excellence.  “We were fortunate to receive a large number of outstanding applications this year, which made the selection process very competitive.  We are extremely proud of this year’s scholarship recipients,” said Diane Goebel, Scholarship Chairman. 

Cadey Moore attends the University of Texas at Austin where she is pursuing a BBA in Business Honors and Management Information Systems.  She is a member of Kappa Delta sorority where has she served as VP of Membership and Recruitment Captain, Recruitment Strategy Head, and the Academic Excellence Committee Business School Representative.  Cadey is a 2017 graduate of Plano West Senior High School and is the daughter of Chris and Shawne Moore of Dallas. 

Lindsey Bolding is a 2020 graduate of Plano Senior High and is the daughter of John and Catherine Bolding of Plano.  She will attend Texas A&M University, majoring in Engineering.  

Sydney Buehrig will study Biology at the University of Texas at Austin with plans to pursue medical school.  She graduated from JJ Pearce High School in 2020 and is the daughter of Jeff and Kristin Buehrig of Dallas. 

Avery DeWolf is a 2020 Plano West Senior High graduate and will major in Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University.  She is the daughter of Scott and Shannon DeWolf of Plano. 

“The PRAP scholarship is a wonderful opportunity to support the educational goals of these accomplished young women,” said 2019-2020 PRAP President Fran McQuirter, “and our dedicated members truly enjoy promoting Greek life through the fundraising events that make these scholarships possible.”

Avery DeWolf will major in Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University this fall.  She is a 2020 graduate of Plano West Senior High and is the daughter of Scott and Shannon DeWolf of Plano.

Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic (PRAP) awarded five $1,000 scholarships to North Texas young women at the organization’s Summer Send-Off dinner held at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Plano on May 15.  Active sorority members Mary Kate Ingram and Sophia Tomotaki, and graduating high school seniors Allison Cannatti, Lauren McPhail, and Anna Smith are this year’s scholarship winners.

Mary Kate Ingram attends University of Missouri where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Journalism.  She has served Kappa Kappa Gamma as philanthropy chairman, standards committee member, and Mizzou Panhellenic Association representative.  Mary Kate is a 2017 graduate of Plano West Senior High School and is the daughter of Matthew and Kristin Ingram of Plano.

Sophia Tomotaki is a student at University of Oklahoma.  She plans to obtain a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in accounting and pre-law studies.  Sophia is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and is the chapter’s vice president of academic excellence.  She is a 2017 graduate of Plano Senior High School and is the daughter of Luis and Cindy Tomotaki of Plano.

Allison Cannatti plans to major in chemical engineering at Vanderbilt University after graduation from Lake Highlands High School in 2019.  She is the daughter of Phillip and Jennifer Cannatti of Dallas.

Lauren McPhail has been admitted to Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School, where she will major in marketing.  She is an upcoming 2019 graduate of Lake Highlands High School and is the daughter of Jory and Jamie McPhail of Dallas.

Anna Smith will graduate from Plano Senior High School in 2019, and will attend Texas A&M University in the fall, majoring in Elementary Education.  She is the daughter of Phil and Brenda Smith of Plano.

2019 PRAP Scholarship Recipients

Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic Awards Four Scholarships

 

Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic (PRAP) awarded four $1,000 scholarships to local young women for the 2018-2019 academic year.  The scholarship recipients, Kristin Birkhoff, Ariel Fuchs, Alexis Cole, and Sydney DeWolf, were introduced at PRAP’s Summer Send-Off held on May 16, at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Plano.

Kristin Birkhoff attends University of Arkansas, where she is majoring in accounting with a minor in nonprofit studies. She is a member of Alpha Delta Pi, where she has held the offices of collegian mentor and finance vice president.  Kristin is a 2015 graduate of Richardson High School and is the daughter of Janet and John Birkhoff. 

Ariel Fuchs is pursuing a BBA in Marketing from Oklahoma University.  She is a member of Chi Omega and is currently serving as treasurer.  Ariel graduated from Plano Senior High in 2016 and is the daughter of Mary and Dave Fuchs.  

Alexis Cole will graduate from Plano West Senior High in 2018 and will attend Texas A&M University this fall, majoring in biomedical engineering.  Alexis is the daughter of Padma and Randall Cole.

Sydney DeWolf will be a freshman at Texas Tech University this fall where she plans to major in marketing.  She will graduate in 2018 from Plano West Senior High and is the daughter of Shannon and Scott DeWolf.  

The selection process is quite competitive due to the large number of impressive scholarship applications that PRAP receives each year.  Applications are evaluated based upon the individual’s extracurricular involvement, leadership experience, community service, academic excellence, and personal goals statement.

“Sororities have a history of being active centers of philanthropy and scholarship. Collegiate and alumnae members of Greek organizations nationwide have raised more than $30,000,000 for philanthropy, including academic scholarships,” stated PRAP President Jennifer Hudson-Allen.  “Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic is proud to continue the Greek tradition of scholarship awards to potential new members and active members of NPC sororities.  This ensures we continue to encourage and recruit women who are dedicated to service, sisterhood, and scholarship.”

PRAP 2017 Scholarship Recipients

Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic (PRAP) is proud to announce its 2017 scholarship recipients.  Five $1,000 scholarships were awarded local young women for the 2017 – 2018 academic year, and the honorees were introduced at PRAP’s annual May “Scholarships and Salads” dinner meeting. The scholarship recipients are Rachel Daniels, Emily Dworkin, Anna Tomotaki, Brooke Benjamin, and Meredith Macnoll.

“The members of PRAP are thrilled to award scholarships to these deserving young women,” stated PRAP President Jean Callison.  “Each one exhibits the ideals of our alumnae Panhellenic deeply held values - academic excellence, leadership and service to others.”

Rachel Daniels is a student at Texas Tech University, where she is majoring in Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences.  She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha where she has held several offices and served most recently as Scholarship Chairman.  Rachel is a 2014 graduate of Plano Senior High and is the daughter of Joanna Daniels and Glenn Daniels.

Emily Dworkin is majoring in cell and molecular biology at University of Michigan.  She is Scholarship Vice President for Sigma Delta Tau sorority.  Emily graduated from Plano West Senior High in 2015 and is the daughter of Ricki and Jeffrey Dworkin.  

Anna Tomotaki serves as Vice President of Campus Affairs for Alpha Phi sorority.  She attends University of Texas at Austin and is pursuing a BS in Nursing.  Anna graduated form Plano Senior High in 2015 and is the daughter of Cynthia and Luis Tomotaki.  

Brooke Benjamin, a 2017 graduate of Plano West Senior High, will attend Tulane University this fall, majoring in neuroscience and dance.  Brooke is the daughter of Lisa and Brian Benjamin.

Meredith Macnoll will be a freshman at the University of Texas at Austin this fall and will study business / marketing.  She is a 2017 graduate of Plano West Senior High and is the daughter of Deborah and Stephen Macnoll.  

Applications are evaluated based upon the individual’s extracurricular involvement, leadership, community service, personal goals, and academic excellence.  “We receive a large number of applications each year, which makes the selection process quite competitive,” said Diane Goebel, Scholarship Chairman.  “We are extremely proud of this year’s scholarship recipients.“
