2017 Wolfpack Prowl raises funds to support the band and activities throughout the school year

The Plano West Senior High Mighty Wolf Marching Band will march down the streets of Plano’s Deerfield Neighborhood in a 4-mile musical parade, on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  The annual event, named the Wolfpack Prowl, is the largest fundraiser for the Plano West Band with proceeds supporting the band and its activities throughout the 2017-18 school year. Band members are asking corporations and individuals to help by serving as sponsors.

This year, the parade will begin at Jasper High School, 6800 Archgate Drive, heading north across Legacy into the Deerfield neighborhood (75204).  The band will hold a mini concert in the parking lot of Haun Elementary, 4500 Quincy Lane, at approximately 11:30 a.m.  The parade will then continue south on Bettye Haun Drive, crossing Legacy, and heading back to Jasper High School. (See attached route map.)

“We hope neighbors, families and friends will come outside of their homes to watch the parade and gather at Haun Elementary for our mini concert,” added Jackie Digby, band director, Plano West. “Families may also request special songs from our list as we march through the neighborhood; at Haun Elementary; or in advance through our website. One of our most popular requests each year is the ‘Happy Birthday’ song.  It certainly makes for a memorable occasion to have 160 instruments playing that tune on your front lawn! If possible, please let us know your requests in advance so we can plan a scheduled stop in front of your home.”

Flyers with a complete song list will be distributed in the neighborhood on September 23. For more information on how to become a sponsor or request a song, visit https://planowestband.membershiptoolkit.com/wolfprowl. A list of songs will be available on the website by mid-September.

“We thank you for your support of this important and entertaining fundraiser for our band,” added Digby.
