First Baptist Plano is on the Move

First Baptist Church Plano will be moving its physical location from downtown to a location near the President George Bush Turnpike east of Coit Road while staying committed to serving all of Plano.

The church is undertaking this relocation after a needs-based facilities study which resulted in a negligible cost difference between renovating and relocating. The facilities evaluation included children’s areas, student areas, central meeting areas, access from parking to facilities, and maintenance and renovation costs. “Looking at the future growth of First Baptist Plano and serving as a church for all of Plano, a new location with various access points fits our future plans because we serve people from every direction in Plano and the surrounding area.” Pastor Dr. Craig Curry said.

The decision to relocate was based on stewardship and a focus on serving the diverse families in the Plano area.  “A year ago our church named a Properties and Facilities Strategic Planning Team to evaluate our current facilities, how we use them, and how we want to use a facility to minister to and worship with the people and families of our region,” continued Curry.  Tommy Shumate, Minister of Education, added: “This step of faith strategically places us in a position to reach generations to come.”

“First Baptist Plano has a great and storied history and we desire to build on our legacy as we move a few miles from our current location,” said Pastor Curry. “Our church body is committed to being a vital part of the community and this factored into the overwhelming majority vote to relocate. We are excited about the opportunity to expand our ministry to the community we serve.”
