Collin County Adventure Camp in Anna, Texas was the site for an outdoor education adventure on Friday, April 24 for students in third and fourth grade at Plano's Faith Lutheran School.

"The day’s educational adventure began with the rock-climbing wall. Under the watchful supervision of camp personnel, students tried scaling the heights and rappelling down again," said Faith Lutheran School teacher Cheryl Wildauer of Allen. "This was followed by visits from a vaquero who explained cattle drives, a soldier who told about the Alamo and the Treaty of Velasco, a pioneer lady who detailed daily chores, and two Caddo Indians who spoke about the characteristic life and habits of their tribe."

After each narrative, students were guided through hands-on experiences such as how to lasso, design a cattle brand, construct military 'dog tags', make butter and face paint in keeping with their personally-chosen name such as Red Roadrunner and Singing Bird.

"At the conclusion of the day, students appeared unanimous that this was indeed a unique education about Texas history and  the great outdoors!" added Wildauer.
