On Saturday, October 10, the Heritage Farmstead Museum of Plano will host its third annual FarmFest, a fall family event celebrating the area's agricultural heritage. The event will feature Romulus and Remus, the tallest donkeys in the world!

On Saturday, October 10, the Heritage Farmstead Museum of Plano will host its third annual FarmFest, a fall family event celebrating the area's agricultural heritage.

"This fun FarmFest event features a county fair atmosphere and many informative, educational events including blacksmith demonstrations, tours of the historic Farrell Wilson home, hands-on activities, animal exhibits, tractor rides, mule-driven wagon rides, live entertainment, food, contests, beverages and so much more," said Heritage Farmstead Museum Executive Director M'Lou Hyttinen.

Event special exhibits include Tractors and Hit 'n Miss Engines from the Wylie Tractor Club, as well as Romulus and Remus: the Tallest Donkeys in the World. The event will also include demonstrations of blacksmithing, cotton spinning and weaving and  presentations by costumed characters from the Texana Living History Association.

Other event highlights include chicken poop bingo and contests such as hog calling, rooster crowing, donkey braying, pie eating and a kids pedal tractor pull.

The Farmstead will also present a new theme for 2015-2016 entitled "Our Town," which will include two new exhibits: "Life on the Blackland Prairie 1891" will be on display in the Farrell Wilson House and "Our Town Plano: Remember When" will be on display in the Young House.

The FarmFest event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 10.  Heritage Farmstead Museum is located at 1900 West 15th Street in Plano. 

Admission at the door is $10 per person ($8 for Heritage Farmstead members), or advance registration is available for $7.50 per person ($6 for Heritage Farmstead members). A family fun pack is also available for $25 and includes four admissions and four lemonades on event day.
