On Saturday, October 15, Heritage Farmstead Museum of Plano will host its fourth annual FarmFest, a fall family event celebrating the area’s cultural heritage.

FarmFest, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – is a birthday party celebration for Heritage Farmstead Museum’s 125th anniversary. The event will feature activities including wagon rides, a Wylie Tractor Club exhibit, kiddie tractor pull, tours of the Farmstead’s Farrell-Wilson house, children’s crafts and chicken poop bingo.

“This is a big year for Heritage Farmstead Museum and for our FarmFest event,” said Heritage Farmstead  Museum  Executive  Director M’Lou  Hyttinen.  “We are hoping for record attendance, because we are celebrating a huge milestone – 125 years! I’m ready for the biggest birthday bash of the fall.  Join us to celebrate autumn, our history and our unique community!”

The FarmFest event will also feature a pumpkin patch, set up in the Farmstead’s beautiful, historic meadow.  Guests purchasing the family fun pack ticket option will receive one free pumpkin from the patch.

The North 40 Storytellers Guild will also present “Folk Tales and Farm Tales” as part of the event. A variety of concessions will be available on-site, and guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a pie eating contest.

“This event provides an opportunity to reflect on the Farmstead’s rich heritage, and to celebrate the future to come,” added Hyttinen.  “This fall, come take a journey to the agricultural 1890’s with you family and friends. Spend a day on the Farmstead with us and create memories that will last a lifetime!”

Event tickets are $10 per person at the gate on event day or $8 for Heritage Farmstead Museum members.  Early registration tickets are $8 per person or $6 for Heritage Farmstead Museum members. Guests may also chose to purchase a family fun pack for $25, which includes four admissions and one free pumpkin from the pumpkin patch on event day.
