22nd ANNUAL DAIRY QUEEN OF SEVEN POINTS OPEN AUTO SHOW SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12th
Event Benefits Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake
The Dairy Queen of Seven Points, Texas will host the 22nd Annual Open Auto Show on Saturday, October 12th , benefiting the Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake. Last year’s show raised more than $8,000 to help support their mission, including transporting animals across the country for adoption.
“Over the past 10 years, we’ve donated more than $40,000 to the Humane Society thanks to the generosity of our community,” said Shirley Leone, owner of the Dairy Queen of Seven Points. “In 2022 we donated a new “Danny Van,” named in honor of my late husband who was a generous supporter of the Humane Society. Admission is free for two or four-legged spectators.”
Registration will open at 11 a.m. with a 2:30 p.m. awards presentation. Entry fee is $20 per car with a donation of dog or cat food. Proceeds from the event, including all the donated pet food, will go to the Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake.
“It’s truly my favorite day of the year,” said Mrs. Leone. “We’ll have music, food specials, a 50/50 raffle drawing, and lots of great items in our silent auction. And the most amazing cars and their proud and competitive owners”
Awards will be presented in 28 different categories, including Model A; Best Bike; Truck; 4x4; Sports Car; Best Restored; Factory Hot Rod; Street Rod; 50s/60s; 70s/80s; Muscle Car; Project; Import; Most Unique; Most Radical; Best Patina; plus 10 Head Turners and one Best of Show. Custom awards are created by Trey Hall, who creates a unique DQ design every year.
Last year’s event drew over 60 classy vehicles with Gary Smith of Athens, Texas taking home the Best of Show with his 1937 Black Ford Convertible.
“We have a special Kids Class Award for entries by kids 12 years old and under,” said Leone. “The only requirement is that the vehicle must have wheels. No engine required. We leave the rest to their imagination! It’s so much fun to see what they dream up.”
Dairy Queen of Seven Points also will donate a percent of the overall days sales, 100 percent of sales from the Skeeter Cups (soft serve cups with dog treats on top) to the Humane Society. In addition, proceeds from the 50/50 raffle and t-shirt sales will benefit the Humane Society. Another sponsor includes the Cedar Creek Lake Parrot Head Club with a significant donation.
“We look forward to the car show every year,” said Leone. “It’s great to see so many friends come out in support of the DQ and the Humane Society’s mission.”
The Dairy Queen of Seven Points is located at 110 W. Cedar Creek Parkway off Highway 334 at 274. The event is open to the public.
