ALS ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE RETURNS FOR
10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Local Event to Honor Southlake Dad Battling ALS
The Ice Bucket Challenge swept the nation in 2014 and is celebrating its 10-year anniversary bringing awareness to those fighting ALS, a fatal neuromuscular disease. The challenge inspired over 17 million people and raised more than $115 million benefiting the cause a decade ago.
Local resident Ashley Burnett is raising awareness and funds for ALS research in honor of her dad, Todd, who is currently fighting this disease. One of Todd’s best friends is San Francisco 49ers Superbowl Champion tight end Brent Jones, who will also be there in support of Todd and those fighting ALS.
The community can participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge before the waterpark opens to the public Monday, July 15 at Hawaiian Falls Roanoke. Guests who donate $15 to the cause receive their own ice bucket as well as a FREE Hawaiian Falls ticket. The person with the highest donation will receive a complimentary cabana rental for the day and four Hawaiian Falls Season Passes.
