The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Park Place Motorcars Fort Worth introduced new luxury sedan at Hotel Drover

Fort Worth’s western heritage met a vibrant future at the Hotel Drover in the Fort Worth Stockyards as Park Place Motorcars launched the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the storied marque’s flagship luxury sedan. Guests mingled in The Barn, the hotel’s stylish rustic event space, before spilling outdoors to explore a stunning new S-500 luxury sedan under the big, Texas sky.

“It was great to get together with so many of our clients and friends to enjoy a beautiful fall evening while exploring the seventh generation S-Class,” said George Johnson, Park Place Motorcars Fort Worth general manager. “This luxury sedan embodies the finest attention to detail inside and out. And it’s packed with remarkable new technology and state-of-the-art safety features.”

Starting at $111,100, the new S-Class comes with a choice of engines and custom features. The S-500 has a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six plus a 48-volt mild hybrid system, delivering 429 horsepower. The S-580 pairs the mild hybrid system with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. And the Maybach model offers a twin-turbo V12 that politely pumps out 612 hp.

The luxury sedan is loaded with new technology. The Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system recognizes the driver by face, voice or index finger and instantly adjusts the driver’s seat and controls to preset personalized settings. Even a wave of the hand or gesture can activate infotainment functions like making or answering a call, adjusting cabin temperature or adjusting side mirrors. Standard driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, active steering and lane assist, blind spot monitoring, forward-collision warning and automatic braking, a 360-degree camera and a self-parking function.

What you don’t see, or hear, is just as important as all the luxurious bells and whistles. Shut the soft-closing doors and you’re enveloped in supreme quiet. Mercedes-Benz has filled the chassis and panels with acoustic foam for the quietest riding S-Class yet.

During the evening, guests enjoyed scrumptious fare, including a Mac & Cheese bar with savory noodles and a selection of toppings, including smoked crispy pork belly, chives, Tasso ham, and buttery bread crumbs. A Taco bar featured pulled pork, barbacoa beef and blackened shrimp with all the trimmings. Guests also enjoyed pumpkin tartlets, Tres Leches Shooters, and Cowboy Cookie Sammies.

Bartenders served a wide range of specialty cocktails and craft beers for the evening, while Fort Worth’s own Silver Star Spirits provided tastings of their Texas Honey liqueur, Silver Star Whiskey, Vodka and 1849 Bourbon, all made with real Texas rainwater in the Trinity River Distillery, home of the former Ranch Style Beans Plant near downtown.

Guests enjoyed high-octane music from the Royal Dukes Band, delivering an energetic mix of pop and country songs with a distinctive flair. Italian menswear designer Canali displayed a collection of stylish fashions on the lawn. And  Topped Hats brought a selection of original hats for guests to try on.
