Every year, as Mother’s Day celebrations take place across the country, an important group of mothers is overlooked — birth mothers who made the choice to place their child for adoption. For many of these women, choosing adoption for their children was a brave but difficult choice, and Mother’s Day is a bittersweet day.

This year BraveLove, a Dallas-based non-profit, is changing that by filling a day that might otherwise bring shame and regret with joy and support.

BraveLove partnered with adoption agencies around the country to gather signatures on a nationwide Birth Mother’s Day card at ToBirthMomsWithLove.com. The message of love and support, along with the signatures, will appear on billboards around the country through May 15th.  So far, over 4,800 people have signed the card.

The Birth Mother’s Day card was created to show birth mothers that they are loved and supported, and to make Mother’s Day a day to honor all mothers.

It's not too late.  Visit www.ToBirthMomsWithLove.com to sign the card.

BraveLove is a pro-adoption movement dedicated to changing the perception of adoption by acknowledging birth moms for their brave decision. Visit www.BraveLove.org for more information on the organization and how to spread its message.

Ladybugs. Lots and lots of ladybugs. 100,000 to be exact!  At 11 am on Saturday, April 11, Windsong Ranch in Prosper, Texas is releasing the beneficial insects on the community's event lawn.  With Earth day right around the corner, it is a fun and educational way to teach children all about the positive effects ladybugs have on the environment.

"Miss Bug" will read children the story, The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle.  She’ll share fun facts about ladybugs and then lead kids to the event lawn where they will receive handfuls of ladybugs to place all around the lawn.  After the release, families can enjoy snow-cones, face painting and balloon animals. The event is free and open to the public.

Ladybugs act as an environmentally friendly means of controlling the insect population and keeping plants healthy.  A single ladybug can eat more than 60 aphids per day and 5,000 in a lifetime.  In the spring, adult ladybugs will lay as many as 300 eggs in an aphid colony, where the larvae will feed on aphids for up to three weeks.  Up to six generations of ladybugs may be hatched in a single year.

Laguna Madre Traders opened its new location in Sachse last week with a Ribbon Cutting hosted by the Sachse Chamber of Commerce.  Laguna Madre is a family business that specializes in providing unique, handcrafted products at deeply discounted prices through its retail shops and website.

“The community has backed us both morally and financially,” said Peter Clark, Owner of Laguna Madre Traders.  “We are all so proud to have our showroom open and to be a part of the city in such a prominent location in a vibrant and growing area.”

The recent expansion of the George Bush Turnpike/SH 190 to Sachse has spurred increased economic development in the city.  The high average household income and low crime rate make the city an attractive target for big name restaurants and retailers, and Sachse is primed for continued development along SH 190 and Highway 78.
