Faith Lutheran School of Plano student council members William Brittain, Elizabeth Crawford, Julia Hitz and Katie Riggs showcase some of the books donated to The Samaritan Inn

Students at Faith Lutheran School in Plano recently participated in the school-wide observance of Celebrate Life Week March 23-27.  The Samaritan Inn of McKinney, a facility that helps individuals experiencing homelessness, was the designated project for the week.

A unique monetary collection at the school called “Fill the Jugs” raised $566.16 for The Samaritan Inn.  Students also collected cleaning supplies, paper products and toiletries for the inn.  During the school’s recent Scholastic Book Fair, monetary donations were also gathered and used to purchase books for use by the children at the Samaritan Inn.

Celebrate Life Week also allowed students to study  from a special curriculum designed to celebrate all stages of life, and students in grades 6-8 attended two sessions of a special program called “180 Degrees”. Students, faculty and staff were also given green life ribbons to wear each day during Celebrate Life Week 2015.
