Thursday nights this summer will be extra special in Rockwall as the city presents its annual Concert by the Lake series. Held at The Harbor between 7 and 9 p.m. each week from May through July, the concerts feature a wide assortment of musical artists.

Memphis Soul is a high-energy, eight-piece group showcasing a distinctive sound and style inspired by artists including Earth, Wind and Fire, Otis Redding, Al Green, Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin. The band performs songs from the rich musical legacy of the 50s, 60s and 70s mixed with current popular classic soul and R&B styles.

The free concerts take place on the Amphitheater Stage at The Harbor, 2059 Summer Lee Drive, on the shores of beautiful Lake Ray Hubbard. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, picnics and beverages. Concerts take place unless there is rain or severe weather at showtime; however, the start of a show can be delayed if it appears rain will stop soon. Celebrate the 250^th anniversary of the United States as Dr. Brian Franklin examines the life and times of Thomas Jefferson to illustrate the rich and complex history of these issues. This program will be hosted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at Allen Public Library, 300 N. Allen Dr.

Dr. Brian Franklin is the associate director of the SMU Center for Presidential History and an adjunct lecturer in the Clements Department of History and the University Honors Program. With his research focusing on the religious, political, and regional 18^th and 19^th century history of the United States, he teaches courses on Texas and American history.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival celebrates its 45th season April 4May 25, 2026, in Waxahachie, Texas (2511 FM 66, approximately 30 minutes south of downtown Dallas). The popular outdoor festival is open Saturdays, Sundays and Memorial Day Monday from 10 a.m.7 p.m.

Visitors step into a re-created 16th-century English village filled with immersive entertainment for all ages, including full-combat jousting, birds of prey exhibitions, live music and comedy, interactive performances, games of skill and human-powered rides. Imani Black Studios will host a photography-focused pop-up gallery and studio featuring exhibitions, workshops and curated experiences. The space is set to open Saturday, May 16, coinciding with the Deep Ellum Wine Walk.

As patrons sip and stroll, they will find themselves in front of Imani Black Studios, where they are welcome to step inside Through My Lens, a capsule exhibition of Blacks work photographing concerts, portraits and landscapes, alongside records, books and magazines that reflect her artistic influences and personal perspective.

Dallas only live, interactive, movie-mocking comedy show is performing its first ever riff at the storied Four Day Weekend Comedy Theater in Lower Greenville.

The Mocky Horror Picture Show (mockyhorror.com) will perform a live riff of Ed Woods Plan Nine from Outer Space at 10 pm on Saturday, May 16 at Four Day Weekend (5601 Sears St.) Tickets are just $10 per person and available at the door or online at https://mockyhorroratfourdayweekend.eventbrite.com.

This time, theyre taking on Ed Woods infamous 1957 sci-fi horror flick. This Z-grade classic (which Danny loves, by the way) stars a cast of hammy actors telling the story of aliens who attempt to take over the world by raising the dead.

Mocky Horror features comedians Liz Barksdale, Danny Gallagher, and Albie Robles riffing on a movie from a script to a movie in front of a live audience. They also put prompts on the screen so the audience can yell lines and use props to interact with the movie with them.
