Authors Christine Elliott Rivers and Katie Schuermann launch new books, host book signing

Kloria Publishing recently announced the release of two new fiction books: The Beloved Son and His Brother by Katie Schuermann and Above All Things: The Tale of the King by Christine Elliott Rivers. On May 21, Schuermann and Rivers hosted a book signing event at Faith Lutheran School in Plano, Texas at which readers met and interacted with the authors.

The Beloved Son and His Brother is the second book in Kloria Publishings The Creed series, a historical fiction trilogy inspired by the three articles of the Apostles Creed and designed for readers in grades three through five. Above All Things: The Tale of the King is the first book in Kloria Publishings The Commandments series, a collection of fairytales inspired by the Ten Commandments and designed for readers in grades two through four. These new releases are the most recent products of the publishers ongoing focus to provide beautiful and content-rich books for families, educators and others that uphold the teachings of Gods Word and the Lutheran Confessions. Christine Elliott Rivers has a bachelor of arts degree from Concordia University, Chicago and a master of arts degree from The Ohio State University. She has served as a teacher for 25 years and currently teaches elementary and high school classes at Faith Lutheran School in Plano, Texas. Above All Things: The Tale of the King is her first book. A native of central Illinois, Katie Schuermann studied vocal pedagogy and literature at Greenville University before earning graduate degrees in both choral conducting and music history from the University of MissouriKansas Citys Conservatory of Music. Today, she is a full-time homemaker, part-time musician and widely-published writer. Schuermann resides in Champaign, Illinois with her husband of 23 years, the Rev. Michael P. Schuermann. Kloria Publishing today announced the release of new fiction books: The Beloved Son and His Brother by Katie Schuermann and Above All Things: The Tale of the King by Plano-area author Christine Elliott Rivers.

Schuermann and Rivers will host a book-signing event on Wednesday, May 21 at 6 p.m. at Faith Lutheran School in Plano, Texas at which readers can meet and interact with the authors. The school is located at 1701 E. Park Blvd., and the event will take place in the school gymnasium. Both books will be available for purchase, Schuermanns for $15 and Rivers for $10. No RSVP is required, and the event is free and open to the public.

Heritage Farmstead Museum achieves re-accreditation from American Alliance of Museums

Heritage Farmstead Museum today announced that museum has again achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national recognition afforded to the nations museums.

Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public. Heritage Farmstead Museum has been accredited since 1996. All museums must undergo a reaccreditation review at least every 10 years to maintain accredited status.

To celebrate this achievement, the Farmstead is offering free admission Thursday, August 29, Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The celebratory weekend will include a variety of festivities, a souvenir giveaway, appearances from local dignitaries and more.

We are thrilled to celebrate this outstanding accomplishment. Accreditation is a very rigorous but highly rewarding process that examines all aspects of a museums operations, said Heritage Farmstead Museums Vice President of Marketing and Development Kathy Wilson. To earn accreditation, we must first conduct a year of self-study, then undergo a site visit by a team of peer reviewers.

AAMs Accreditation Commission, an independent and autonomous body of museum professionals, considers the self-study and visiting committee report to determine whether a museum should receive accreditation.

Of the nations estimated 33,000 museums, roughly 1,100 are currently accredited. Heritage Farmstead Museum is one of only 50 museums accredited in Texas.

Alliance Accreditation brings national recognition to a museum for its commitment to excellence, accountability, high professional standards and continued institutional improvement. Developed and sustained by museum professionals for more than 50 years, the Alliances Museum accreditation program is the fields primary vehicle for quality assurance, self-regulation, and public accountability. It strengthens the museum profession by promoting practices that enable leaders to make informed decisions, allocate resources wisely, and remain financially and ethically accountable to provide the best possible service to the public.

With the help of almost 70 volunteers, Faith Lutheran Church of Plano presented "Celebrate the Savior" Vacation Bible School June 17-21, 2024 for more than 75 children three years old through those entering sixth grade. Children enjoyed a great week of Bible study, songs, crafts, games, snacks and more!
