Plano non-profit (This Side UP! Family) receives 2018 Meritorious Service Award from the Texas Council on Family Relations!

At a luncheon in Plano on Friday, April 6th, This Side UP! Family will be presented with the 2018 Meritorious Service Award from the Texas Council on Family Relations (TxCFR).

The Meritorious Service Award was established by the TxCFR Board of Directors in 1981 to acknowledge and encourage outstanding services and support to families and to family life in Texas. It is presented at the annual conference to an individual, agency, corporation, foundation, or other organization whose contributions are determined to be of significance.

The Texas Council on Family Relations (TxCFR) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) educational and resource organization devoted to promoting healthy families. Members include educators, researchers, counselors, social workers, health care professionals, therapists, attorneys, clergy, students and interested laypersons. Since its founding in 1946, TxCFR has facilitated the work of its members in the interest of Texas families.

The Texas Council on Family Relations is an affiliate of the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR). NCFR is a non-profit, non-partisan organization for multidisciplinary family life professionals. Its mission is to provide a forum for family researchers, educators and practitioners to share in the development and dissemination of knowledge about families and family relationships; to establish professional standards for the field; and to promote family well-being.

TxCFR holds an annual conference and this year it is being held on April 5-6 at Spring Hill Suites in Plano. This Side UP! Family’s Executive Director and additional TSUF board members have been invited to be guests at a luncheon on Friday April 6 when they will formally be presented with the TxCFR 2018 Meritorious Service Award.

This Side UP! Family (funded in part by the City of Plano) is honored to be the recipient of such a terrific award as their Family Wellness Program continues to serve 600+ community families each year by providing much-needed relational strengthening through Family Connection, Single Parent Support, Parenting Education and Marriage Enrichment.
