PLANO, TEXAS, March 4, 2014 – Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano is proud to recognize Carole Inman, R.N., M.S.N., as the winner of D Magazine’s Excellence in Nursing Award for Orthopedics. Inman is among 80 winners and finalists in North Texas selected from 456 nominations for the annual awards.

“It is a tremendous honor to have one of our nurses recognized for her care and compassion in the workplace,” Raymond Kelly, R.N., M.S.N., chief nursing officer at Texas Health Plano, said. “Carole is an invaluable member at Texas Health Plano and we commend her for years of dedicated service to the patients at our hospital.”

Inman has worked as Texas Health Plano’s joint replacement program coordinator for the past six years and has worked at the hospital for more than 16 years. She was instrumental in helping the joint replacement program earn certification with the Joint Commission and implemented the use of time-release medication that allows patients to stay mobile after surgery, but with less pain.

“One of the biggest issues after joint replacement surgery is trying to keep our patients comfortable,” Inman said. “That is one of our ways of validating the strengths of our program.”

Registered nurses were nominated by hospitals, private practices, physicians and patients in 25 categories. Nominators were asked to consider how the nurse had affected the lives of their patients, the community and the nursing profession in general. Nominations were reviewed by a panel of registered nurses and scores were compiled to select the winners.

In all, ten Texas Health Resources nurses were selected as winners and finalists for the Excellence in Nursing Awards. To see D Magazine’s full list of winners and finalist, click here.

The awards were presented at a reception held Wednesday, February 19 in Dallas. The winning nurses were honored in the March issue of D Magazine. Click here to see the featured winner’s profiles on the magazine’s website.
