2015 SOUTHWEST RV SUPERSHOW RETURNS TO MARKET HALL SEPTEMBER 17-20, 2015
Over ten thousand shoppers join in the SOUTHWEST RV SUPERSHOW September 17-20 at Market Hall to experience the latest innovation, technology and advancements in RV life and travel. More than 400 demonstration units are throughout 350,000 square feet of display space. The popular toy hauler units will be alongside the traditional fifth wheels, travel trailers, tent trailers, motor homes, motor coaches and camper vans. Each day of the show offers a variety of seminars on RV ownership and vendors with the latest accessories to enhance RV travels. Professionals are on-site to provide financing and insurance scenarios. National manufacturers are represented by regional dealer members of the Texas Recreational Vehicle Association who produces the multiday event.

Texas represented the largest share of RV shipments in the US during 2014 with 9.27% followed by California, Florida, Michigan and Ohio respectively. Total RV shipments in 2014 to retailers were up 11% over the previous year and the best year since 2006. This represents the fifth consecutive annual increase and the fourth double digit percentage gain in RV shipments since the end of the last recession. Retail value of all wholesale shipments in 2014 surged more than 18% to an all-time high. These sales figures correlate to the consumer demand and desire for a unique and personal travel experience.
The average age of current owners remains 48 years of age, slightly younger than the median age of U.S. households. An interesting change is the average age of motor home owners has fallen from 60 years old in the mid-90’s to 48 years of age today. The fastest growing RV owner age group includes Generation X consumers currently dominating the age group of 35-54 year olds. Rising sharply following the “Great Recession,” ownership rates increased 11.2% for Generation X.¹ (source RVIA Industry Profile 2014)
Ways to connect family and friends remain a strong attraction to the RV lifestyle as well as the love of the outdoors and adventure travel. Go RVing Canada released a major new independent Family Vacation Cost Comparison Study. The study found typical family RV vacations to be up to 75 percent less expensive per day than the other types of trips.
