Candace Winslow is the New Executive Director of The Storehouse of Collin County

Winslow’s proven experience in both the corporate and nonprofit worlds, coupled with her passion for helping families, make her the ideal leader to guide The Storehouse into the future

The Board of Directors of The Storehouse of Collin County announces Candace Winslow as its new executive director, overseeing the nonprofit’s staff, programs, strategic planning, finances, fundraising, and execution of its mission to serve people in Collin County living at or below the poverty level – an estimated 130,000 people, more than half of whom are children.

“We believe that Ms. Winslow is the transformational leader to execute the organization’s strategic plan and effectively fulfill our mission in the community,” said Kelly Pfeil, chair of the board of The Storehouse of Collin County. “Ms. Winslow is a proven leader whose diverse career includes positions in corporate management and consulting as well as nonprofit and philanthropic organizations.”

Winslow began her career with Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) in the change management practice which focused on helping clients with organizational design, change and communication initiatives.  Following her tenure at Accenture, Winslow founded and served as president/CEO of AtWork Solutions, Inc., a strategic human resources consulting firm. Additionally, as a staff member at Highland Park United Methodist Church, she held various leadership roles, including coordinator of the Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Ministry, serving as the main contact for victims who needed help; director of the children’s ministry; and executive director of strategy and discipleship. Her passion for community service is manifested in her decades of work with numerous charitable organizations where she has held multiple leadership positions including: the American Red Cross, founding chair of the Mardi Gras Ball; Community Partners of Dallas, board chair and capital campaign chair; Dallas Christian Women’s Job Corps, board chair; Family Compass, executive committee and board chair; Genesis Women’s Shelter, luncheon underwriting co-chair; Junior League of Dallas, leadership council member and underwriting committee lead member; and many others.

“I am equally thrilled and humbled to join The Storehouse team,” said Candace Winslow. “Clearly, the tireless work of the staff and countless volunteers has made a great impact in the lives of those served. I look forward to seeing how the Lord leads us in this coming season and meeting all those involved in this important work.”

The Storehouse of Collin County serves over 1,000 families each month through Seven Loaves Food Pantry, Joseph’s Coat Clothing Closet and Project Hope Support and Counseling Services.

“There is an increased need for these services in Collin County,” stated Michele Thatcher, chair emeritus of the board. “We believe that Candace possesses both the management and fundraising skills that will accelerate our growth. In addition to her strong skill set, her experience consistently demonstrates she is passionate about serving families in need, aligning perfectly with our mission to help others in Collin County.”

The program first began in 2009 under the name of Seven Loaves which provided only food pantry staples and grew over the years to meet a variety of needs.
