Joseph's Coat to host upscale resale fundraiser

All proceeds support Joseph’s Coat, which provides clothing to Collin County families in need each month

Joseph’s Coat, a program of The Storehouse of Collin County will host an upscale resale fundraiser Friday, August 18, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. in Smith Worship Center, St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 1401 Mira Vista, Plano, Texas 75093. All proceeds will go toward purchasing needed items for Joseph’s Coat, a clothing closet which provides an average of 4,000 garments each month to more than 300 Collin County families in need.

“This is a generous community providing wonderful donations all throughout the year, but there are often certain sizes we do not receive and desperately need,” said Candace Winslow, Executive Director, The Storehouse of Collin County.  “For example, a large majority of donations are adult clothing, but we receive limited children’s clothing. It is our hope this fundraiser will generate funds to supplement the various needs we have throughout the year.”

The resale is open to the public. Brand names include: Allure; Ann Taylor; Armani; Banana Republic; Big Buddha; Chico’s; Coach; Coldwater Creek; Le Sac; Michael Kors; St. John; Tan Jay; and Tom’s Shoes.

For questions, visit www.thestorehousecc.org. The community may also drop off any donations of clothing at The Storehouse of Collin County, 1401 Mira Vista, north entrance.  A drop box for Joseph’s Coat is also available in the north parking lot off of Mira Vista at St. Andrew United Methodist Church.

The Storehouse of Collin County, a nonprofit organization housed within St. Andrew United Methodist Church, is the umbrella of services providing short-term assistance and long-term transformation to residents of Collin County in need: the Seven Loaves Food Pantry, serving 1,000 families a month; Joseph’s Coat Clothing Closet, providing an average of 4,000 garments each month; and Project Hope, a mentoring program supporting women in crisis. The program first began in 2009 under the name of Seven Loaves which provided only food pantry staples and grew over the years to meet a variety of needs. An estimated 130,000 people in Collin County live below the poverty level, more than half of which are children. Visit www.thestorehousecc.org.
