Sky Ranch Horn Creek in Westcliffe, Colorado will welcome many Collin County families and campers this summer.

New Acquisition Expands Programs at Both Camps

60-year-old Texas-based Sky Ranch Christian Camps announced today that it recently closed on the acquisition of 65-year-old Horn Creek Conference Grounds in the rugged Sangre de Cristo Range of the Rocky Mountains in Westcliffe, Colorado.  The new entity, Sky Ranch Horn Creek, will continue to offer youth camps, family camps, retreats and conferences.  Sky Ranch is a long-time favorite among Plano and Collin County residents.  Visit www.skyranch.org.

Sky Ranch President and CEO Linda Paulk says, “We are so excited to allow the continuation of Horn Creek, as well as to meet the growing demand at Sky Ranch.  Sky Ranch, with locations in Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma, served more than 66,000 guests in 2015, and we’re delighted to expand our ministry to serve even more in the years to come.”

Building on current programs at Horn Creek, Sky Ranch, as part of its extremely successful Life Map plan, will offer leadership camps for Quest 10th grade and Sigma 11th grade at the new Colorado site.  The Sky Ranch Horn Creek location will also create much-needed additional space for Family Camp, in addition to the current 120 families served at Sky Ranch Ute Trail Family Camp near Lake City, Colorado.

The Horn Creek property will operate as a separate Sky Ranch facility and its second in Colorado.  Sky Ranch has enjoyed strong ties to the state with its 11-year operation at its Ute Trail Family Camp near Lake City. While each of Sky Ranch’s Colorado facilities have a unique appeal through different lodging styles and activities, both are set in the stunning mountain scenery and are committed to an overall experience dedicated to strengthening and encouraging campers and families.

Long-time Sky Ranch team member and former Colorado resident Doug McClain, Sr.Director of Camps – Colorado and Oklahoma, served as the interim Executive Director of Horn Creek during the transition.  McClain has recently moved his family to the Westcliffe area to oversee operations and facility improvements. Of the opportunity, McClain says, “Sky Ranch strives for excellence in all we do, and we look forward to investing in the facilities and programs at Sky Ranch Horn Creek, as well as being an active part of the local community.”

In the months ahead, Sky Ranch will focus on facility enhancements and finalizing curriculum mapping for campers and guests in preparation of the summer camp season at Horn Creek. The new acquisition will expand programs and blend facilities to incorporate the character development, active learning and outdoor adventures that campers and families experience at the existing Sky Ranch sites.

Andrew Zeller, member of Horn Creek’s founding family, states, “Along with the Horn Creek Board of Directors and my family, I am very thankful for the way God has brought these two Christian camps together. Horn Creek has been an amazing ministry in the lives of many thousands of young people and families. Now under Sky Ranch’s leadership that legacy will continue strong into the future.”
