Sachse Named to Top 10 Best Dallas Suburbs for Families by Movoto

Movoto, an online real estate brokerage firm, has named Sachse to the Top 10 Best Dallas Suburbs for Families.  Movoto credits Sachse as a peaceful suburb with spacious farmhouse, ranch and craftsman style homes with large yards that give a big family plenty of room to spread out.

"We are thrilled to be named by Movoto as one of the best Dallas suburbs," said Leslyn Blake, CEO of Sachse Economic Development Corporation.  "Sachse continues to garner national attention because it’s a great place to live and we are the closest fastest growing city to Dallas."

Movoto used the following criteria to rank the suburbs:

  • GreatSchools.org score
  • Total crimes per 100k
  • Unemployment rate
  • Average commute time
  • Median household income
  • Median monthly housing costs (the lower the better)

Sachse’s Armstrong Elementary received a rating of 9 out of 10 from Greatschools.org.  The other schools in the city received 7 out of 10.  Sachse schools are part of the Garland Independent School District, the second-largest district in Dallas County and are also served by Wylie ISD.

A low crime rate also helped Sachse make the list.  The city is safer than 82% of the cities in the United States and its overall crime rate is 64% lower than the national average.  Sachse recently ranked 5th on the Safest Cities in Texas list.

The average household income in Sachse is $105,000, which is 72% greater than the Texas average and 67.2% greater than the national average and the median monthly housing cost is $1,800, well below other North Texas suburbs.

Movoto weighted the GreatSchools.org score and total crimes per 100k score to make up 25 percent of the final score, while the rest of the categories made up 10 percent.  They also sourced data from GreatSchools.orgAreaVibes, and the U.S. Census.

Located at Highway 78, 1.5 miles from the Bush Turnpike, Sachse has a population of 23,000 and more than 7,000 households.  Once a bedroom community, the booming city now has over 120,000 vehicles a day on the main arteries of Hwy. 78 and the President George Bush Turnpike.

The Sachse Economic Development Corporation acts on behalf of the City of Sachse in promoting and developing authorized projects, while supporting economic development activities to retain, expand and attract businesses for the purpose of diversifying the tax base and improving the quality of life of the citizens of Sachse.  For more information, go to www.sachseedc.com.
