PCA North Celebrates 5 Years PCA North 3rd Grader excited about the first day of school!

Prestonwood Christian Academy North (PCA North) yesterday celebrated the first day of its fifth year. Among the usual first day of school fanfare, more than 160 students arrived to find new faculty and staff as well as a new playground and sport court.

PCA North’s enrollment has tripled in just five years. In December 2017, PCA Head of School, Dr. Larry Taylor, Board of Trustees, and Senior Pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church, Dr. Jack Graham announced plans to add a high school at the campus, adding a grade every year through the first graduating class of 2023.

In May 2018, Dr. Taylor announced the appointment of Greg Wright as Middle/Upper School Principal at PCA’s North Campus joining inaugural Lower School Principal Donna Gilson.

“We are grateful to the parents of PCA North for the privilege of investing in the lives of students,” said Dr. Larry Taylor, Head of School. “We strive to prepare students for the future through a depth of learning that advances them academically, spiritually and in character development, so they’re equipped for the world ahead living strong, empowered lives for Christ. This investment is much more than education. It is an investment that is establishing students for life.”

Since the first day of school in 2014, PCA North students have experienced the same level of excellence in education as their peers at PCA Plano, including the Apple for Everyone program, which provides an iPad® for each student in grades first through sixth, shared iPad® s designated for Pre-K and Kindergarten classes, and MacBook® s for seventh and eighth graders. PCA North also began its Athletics program last year and several Middle School students selected to get involved with the PCA Theater program at PCA Plano.

“At PCA North, I’m part of a wonderful extended family that includes my school friends, teachers, parents and the administration,” said Logan Daugherty, PCA North 8th grader and original student. “Our teachers help prepare us to become leaders and servants of God and part of the world community. They encourage us to step outside where we live and give us both the academic and life tools we need to be successful.”

Prestonwood Christian Academy is a ministry of Prestonwood Baptist Church. Dr. Chris Kouba, pastor of PBC North, said, “I believe we have and continue to build the finest Christian school in America.  PCA North is a positive influence on our church and our rapidly growing community. God is doing great and mighty things here.”

The community is invited to join the school for a Breakfast Preview on Friday, Nov. 2, at 9:00 a.m. where attendees will learn more about PCA North, meet both principals and the Head of School and have the opportunity to tour the campus.

Prestonwood Christian Academy's system of schools serves more than 1,600 students enrolled at three campuses: Plano (Pre-K3 through 12th grade), PCA North in Prosper (Pre-K3 through 8th grade) and PCAplus Virtual Academy. PCA North is celebrating its fifth school year with more than 160 students. PCA has been recognized as having one of the strongest Christian education programs in the country providing intentional biblical worldview training and integration. PCA places great value on the growth of students’ spiritual health in addition to their scholastic endeavors and co-curricular activities. Tantamount to its Spiritual Development plan is PCA’s rigorous Liberal Arts academic program. Since it first graduating class in 2002 through the class of 2018, graduates have been offered more than $110 million in scholarship for academics, arts and athletics from universities and other institutions of higher learning.
