Prestonwood Christian Academy North Announces Grade Addition With Plans For Additional Growth

On October 26, during PCA North Day at Prestonwood Baptist Church's North Campus, Prestonwood Christian Academy Head of School, Dr. Larry Taylor, announced the addition of a fifth grade for 2015-16 at the school’s campus in Prosper with the intention of growing through eighth grade in the next three years. Additionally, a Strategic Planning Task Force has been assembled to work on the future ninth through twelfth grade Upper School.

“After much prayer and strategic discussion, I am thrilled to announce our decision to grow PCA’s North Campus in only its second year of operation,” said Dr. Larry Taylor, PCA Head of School. “Our desire is to add a grade every year until we reach twelfth grade, and we will be praying and planning to that end. I believe with the addition of grade levels, PCA North will reach many more families and continue to be a positive influence on this community."

PCA North opened it’s doors to Pre-K3 through fourth grade students on Aug. 26, 2014, and has a current enrollment of more than 60 students, ten of whom enrolled after first day of school.

Principal Donna Leadford leads a staff of 17 with her passion for Christian education and more than 30 years of experience. “The excitement about PCA North is incredible,” said Leadford. “The students and their parents know they are a part of something special here, and I look forward to meeting more families interested in helping establish a campus that will provide Kingdom education to our community for many years to come.”

Located in the recently completed addition of Prestonwood Baptist Church North Campus at the intersection of Prosper Trail and the Dallas North Tollway in Prosper, PCA North serves students from Prosper, Celina, North Frisco, McKinney, Little Elm and other communities in the area surrounding U.S. Highway 380. A formal proclamation from the office of Congressman Sam Johnson was shared at the school’s ribbon cutting in summer of 2014: “A Christian education not only empowers our next generation of leaders to work hard and persevere and reach their fullest potential but live a life according to God’s will,” Congressman Johnson wrote. “I am pleased to see PCA grow and have the opportunity to reach children and parents in more communities, including Prosper, Celina, North Frisco and McKinney.”

PCA North is an extension of Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano at which more than 1,500 students are enrolled in Pre-K3 through twelfth grade. The Christian school focuses on the education, training and overall formation of a child’s heart and mind. PCA North is accepting applications for the 2015-16 school year.  Interested families are invited to the PCA North Preview lunch on Nov. 9, at 12:45 p.m. in the Student Lounge at Prestonwood North Campus, 1001 W.
