Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic (PRAP) awarded five $1,000 scholarships to North Texas young women at the organization’s Summer Send-Off dinner held at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Plano on May 15. Active sorority members Mary Kate Ingram and Sophia Tomotaki, and graduating high school seniors Allison Cannatti, Lauren McPhail, and Anna Smith are this year’s scholarship winners.
Mary Kate Ingram attends University of Missouri where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Journalism. She has served Kappa Kappa Gamma as philanthropy chairman, standards committee member, and Mizzou Panhellenic Association representative. Mary Kate is a 2017 graduate of Plano West Senior High School and is the daughter of Matthew and Kristin Ingram of Plano.
Sophia Tomotaki is a student at University of Oklahoma. She plans to obtain a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in accounting and pre-law studies. Sophia is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and is the chapter’s vice president of academic excellence. She is a 2017 graduate of Plano Senior High School and is the daughter of Luis and Cindy Tomotaki of Plano.
Allison Cannatti plans to major in chemical engineering at Vanderbilt University after graduation from Lake Highlands High School in 2019. She is the daughter of Phillip and Jennifer Cannatti of Dallas.
Lauren McPhail has been admitted to Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School, where she will major in marketing. She is a 2019 graduate of Lake Highlands High School and is the daughter of Jory and Jamie McPhail of Dallas.
Anna Smith will graduate from Plano Senior High School in 2019, and will attend Texas A&M University in the fall, majoring in Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Phil and Brenda Smith of Plano.
“We receive a large number of applications each year, which makes the selection process quite competitive,” said Diane Goebel, Scholarship Chairman. “We are extremely proud of this year’s scholarship recipients.“ Applications are evaluated based upon the individual’s extracurricular involvement, leadership, community service, personal goals, and academic excellence.
“Greek organizations have been around since the 19th century, and they are even more relevant today with their focus on philanthropy, service, education and diversity,” said PRAP President, Inez Seaney. “We are thrilled to be able to pay our organizational success forward and provide these deserving young women with a scholarship.”
Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic is an organization of more than 100 women dedicated to promoting inter-fraternity friendship and collaboration. PRAP is affiliated with the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) and serves the young women residing in the Plano and Richardson school districts. Membership is open to alumnae of the 26 NPC member sororities, and members meet monthly for social activities, informative programs, philanthropy and fundraising events.
