Prestonwood Christian Academy (PCA) track coach and former NFL player, Omar Stoutmire, was honored this past weekend in California as he was inducted into Fresno State’s Hall of Fame for his outstanding play as a defensive back during his college career.

Stoutmire was named as a Super Prep All-American in high school at Long Beach Poly High School for his hard-hitting play as a safety and followed his high school career by becoming one of the best defensive backs in Fresno State history. As a junior at Fresno State, he set school and Western Athletic Conference records for tackles in a season with 198. He was named All-WAC as a senior.

Stoutmire also had an 11-year NFL career, starting with being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys out of college. He played a five-year stint with the New York Giants during which he participated in Super Bowl XXXV. He also played for the New Orleans Saints and the Washington Redskins.

Omar and his wife Sheila founded the North Texas Jackrabbits track and field program and currently coach the Prestonwood Christian Academy Track team.
