JPIIHS Senior basketball player Arabella DeAngelis has signed with Colorado State-Pueblo to play Division II basketball. DeAngelis has been a four-year member of the varsity team at John Paul II High School, and helped lead her team to three consecutive TAPPS Final Fours before winning the school’s first TAPPS state championship last March. “Arabella’s ability to play the perimeter at her size will serve her well at the next level,” said coach Mike Martin. “It has been a real pleasure to work with her at JPIIHS.”

DeAngelis earned the JPIIHS “Most Improved” player award her freshman year. Her sophomore year, she was named to the TAPPS 1st Team All District as well as 2nd Team All State. She was also recognized as a Dallas Morning News Player of the Week. Her junior year, she was named TAPPS 5A Championship Co-Player of the Game and 2nd Team All District. She plays AAU basketball for North Texas United.

She chose Colorado State-Pueblo because of the community. “I felt at home when I was there,” she said. “The school and basketball program give me great opportunities for the future.”

DeAngelis excels off the court as well. She’s a four-year member of the Honor Roll, and has received the JPIIHS Varsity Academic Award for a GPA of 3.55. She’s a member of the Pro-Life Club, the Student Ambassadors, and is the event coordinator for Students Against Destructive Decisions. She volunteers her time at the Wilkinson Center Foundation, the Sunrise Retirement Home and the Colonial Lodge Retirement Home.
