John Paul II High School's motto is "Seek to Serve", and on Tuesday, the school community did just that. The students and faculty responded to a challenge from Mayor Harry LaRosiliere to collect 1,000 jars of peanut butter in one week for the North Texas Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids program. 

The program helps feed Plano ISD elementary students throughout weekends during the school year. The students when above and beyond, collecting more than the 1,000 jars and presenting them to Mayor LaRosiliere at a special celebration on Tuesday. 

LaRosiliere said about 28 percent of children in PISD elementary schools are on food assistance programs. The city of Plano continues to work with the North Texas Food Bank to raise $1 million to supply backpacks for PISD students throughout the next three years.
