Prestonwood Christian Academy (PCA) Senior Julius Randle was named by USA Basketball to the roster for the 2013 USA Junior National Select Team.

The Nike Hoop Summit is the country’s premier annual basketball game for high school boys and features the country’s top seniors who will be playing against a World Select Team made up of elite international players who are 19-years-old or younger.

“Julius was obviously selected based on his ability to play basketball, but more importantly based on his character,” said Chris Mayberry, PCA Head Basketball Coach. “He has kept such a positive attitude dealing with the adversity with his injury and he will continue to be selected for honors and awards because of his character.”

Randle represented USA at the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship this past summer, where he won a gold medal after averaging team highs of 14.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

The first three picks in the 2012 NBA Draft were former U.S. Nike Hoop Summit players. Five former players have gone on to receive NBA Rookie of the Year. Since the first Nike Hoop Summit in 1995, six Hoop Summit alumni have been chosen No. 1 in the NBA Draft and 46 players have been selected among the first ten draftees.

The 2013 Nike Hoop Summit will be played at 4 p.m. (PDT) on Saturday, April 20, at the Rose Garden in Portland, OR.
