“Cancer is a devastating disease that touches nearly every American in some way,” said Jennifer Reid, Kick’n Childhood Cancer Event Chair. “When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the hopes and dreams for their future are put into question. We want to bring awareness about the lack of funding in the childhood cancer arena and help raise more money for the research it will take to find a cure. The event is fun and is a great opportunity to spend with the family and create memories while helping others.”
TeamConnor hosts several events throughout the year to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research, including Splash Out Childhood Cancer at Hawaiian Falls July 11, the Color Me Green 5K & Caterpillar Dash in October, and the 3rd Annual Northwestern Mutual Clay Shoot November 7. In addition, Coins for Kids with Cancer, TeamConnor’s national fundraising program, raises funds in schools, churches, offices and organizations across the country.
Every year, more than 12,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Childhood cancer is the number one disease killer of children, yet the budget of the National Cancer Institute allocates less than four percent of its funds to pediatric cancer research. TeamConnor is dedicated to raising awareness and funding research and treatment programs to find a cure for all childhood cancers.
