Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic Awards Four Scholarships

Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic (PRAP) awarded four $1,000 scholarships to local young women for the 2018-2019 academic year.  The scholarship recipients, Kristin Birkhoff, Ariel Fuchs, Alexis Cole, and Sydney DeWolf, were introduced at PRAP’s Summer Send-Off held on May 16, at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Plano.

Kristin Birkhoff attends University of Arkansas, where she is majoring in accounting with a minor in nonprofit studies. She is a member of Alpha Delta Pi, where she has held the offices of collegian mentor and finance vice president.  Kristin is a 2015 graduate of Richardson High School and is the daughter of Janet and John Birkhoff.

Ariel Fuchs is pursuing a BBA in Marketing from Oklahoma University.  She is a member of Chi Omega and is currently serving as treasurer.  Ariel graduated from Plano Senior High in 2016 and is the daughter of Mary and Dave Fuchs.

Alexis Cole will graduate from Plano West Senior High in 2018 and will attend Texas A&M University this fall, majoring in biomedical engineering.  Alexis is the daughter of Padma and Randall Cole.

Sydney DeWolf will be a freshman at Texas Tech University this fall where she plans to major in marketing.  She will graduate in 2018 from Plano West Senior High and is the daughter of Shannon and Scott DeWolf.

The selection process is quite competitive due to the large number of impressive scholarship applications that PRAP receives each year.  Applications are evaluated based upon the individual’s extracurricular involvement, leadership experience, community service, academic excellence, and personal goals statement.

“Sororities have a history of being active centers of philanthropy and scholarship. Collegiate and alumnae members of Greek organizations nationwide have raised more than $30,000,000 for philanthropy, including academic scholarships,” stated PRAP President Jennifer Hudson-Allen.  “Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic is proud to continue the Greek tradition of scholarship awards to potential new members and active members of NPC sororities.  This ensures we continue to encourage and recruit women who are dedicated to service, sisterhood, and scholarship.”

Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic is an organization of more than 100 women dedicated to promoting inter-fraternity friendship and collaboration.  PRAP is affiliated with the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) and serves the young women residing in the Plano and Richardson school districts.  Membership is open to alumnae of the 26 NPC member sororities, and members meet monthly for social activities, informative programs, philanthropy and fundraising events.  PRAP also hosts a sorority recruitment information forum each spring.  For more information, please visit praptx.com.
