The Prestonwood Christian Academy (PCA) track team took 12 students (6 girls and 6 boys) to Baylor University in Waco, Texas, this past weekend for the TAPPS Track & Field 5A State Championships. The group competed in running events ranging from 200 meters to relays, as well as several field events. 

This was the largest overall number of entries to advance to State in the past years. The team is coached by Omar and Sheila Stoutmire who are in their third season leading the track team.  “We are extremely proud of this team. They all showed up amongst great competition,” states Coach Sheila Stoutmire. 

Results are as follows: 

  • Mike Mitchell – 1st place in shot put with personal best of 52'4"; 3rd place in 100m
  • Jaevin Reed- 1st place in 200m & 400m
  • Boys -  2nd place in 4x400 relay (JR Reed, JP Coward, Cody Cunningham, AJ Brown)
  • Boys – 3rd in 4x100 relay (Mike Mitchell, JP Coward, Cody Cunningham, AJ Brown)
  • Savannah Seiler - 5th place in pole vault at 9'6" (personal best)
  • Girls – 5th place in 4x200 relay (Antoinette Iroko, Kelsey Saldivar, Molly Coward, Sidney Hicks)
  • AJ Brown – 6th place in 400m
  • Cody Cunningham- 6th place in 200m
  • Michael Roach – 7th place in pole vault at 11'6"  (personal best)
