St. Andrew United Methodist Church will host “Stars and Stripes at St. Andrew,” an inaugural July 4th celebration for the community, on Sunday, June 30, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the sanctuary, 5801 W. Plano Parkway, Plano. More than 100 voices of the combined chancel choirs of St. Andrew and Custer Road United Methodist Church will fill the sanctuary with patriotic music including hymns and songs, accompanied by Imperial Brass and Dr. Jonathan Gregoire on St. Andrew’s Letourneau organ. This event is open to the public and there is no admission charge.

Small American flags will be provided to children who wish to participate in a patriotic parade throughout the sanctuary during the program. The event will also include a special salute to the armed forces and free snow cones for everyone.

“We are thrilled to partner with Tim Morrison, Assoc. Minister of Music and Worship at Custer Road United Methodist Church, and the Custer Road UMC Chancel Choir for this new patriotic celebration at St. Andrew,” said Taylor Davis, Director of Music and Worship Arts, St. Andrew UMC. “Without question, this will be an extraordinary event for the entire community. Dress casually, bring your family and friends, and come experience a delightful afternoon of patriotic music and fun!”

“The Chancel Choir of Custer Road UMC is excited to participate in Stars and Stripes at St. Andrew along with the wonderful musicians of St. Andrew and Imperial Brass,” said Tim Morrison. “The repertoire is grand, exhilarating and exciting! The fellowship of uniting with other talented and gifted musicians creates a unique and meaningful bond which we will celebrate long after this special event.”

St. Andrew United Methodist Church began 32 years ago in the spirit of its namesake, a disciple of Jesus. The life of the Apostle Andrew embodies the church's mission, which is to invite the Christian-ish and the unchurched to become passionate servants of Christ. The congregation of St. Andrew follows Jesus, lives in relationship, serves others, and takes risks in faith. Worship includes four services each weekend on a 21.2-acre campus at the corner of Plano Parkway and Mira Vista in Plano, Texas, where more than 2,000 people gather each weekend. Recent renovation allows the Sanctuary to host worship in both Traditional style, with the classic pipe organ, and Contemporary style, with a new LED center screen and lighting technology. Small groups and Bible studies gather on campus and throughout the region every day of the week. Mission opportunities serve our local area, neighboring regions, and global communities. The church has been repeatedly selected as a "Best Place to Worship in Plano” by the readers of the Plano Star Courier. St. Andrew United Methodist Church is located at 5801 W. Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas 75093. Visit www.standrewumc.org; call 972-380-8001.
