On Sunday, April 7, Scouts from all over Plano will be ready to roll when the Plano Pinewood Derby for Circle Ten Council, Golden Arrow and Northern Lights districts gets underway at Collin Creek Mall.

Scouts in first through fifth grades from both Golden Arrow and Northern Lights districts are eligible to compete to determine the fastest Scout-made Derby cars in Plano.

“Last year, about 150 Scouts and their families were here at Collin Creek Mall, enjoying the day and observing the all-American Pinewood Derby races," said Sandra LaCLave, general manager at Collin Creek Mall. "The Scouts had a great time and many of our shoppers stopped to see the action. This is the third year the center has hosted the event and we look forward to welcoming Scouts and fans again this year.”

Sign in for the Third Annual Plano Pinewood Derby begins at noon on Sunday, April 7. Each Scout rank, including Tiger Cubs, Wolves, Bears and Webelos, will compete in separate races, beginning at 1 p.m. The top five winners from each division will participate in an overall district race at 3 p.m. Weigh-in is Saturday, April 6 at Plano First United Methodist Church on Springcreek Parkway from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Scouts interested in participating in the district race must register through their Pack by Friday, March 29. Registration forms and rules are available at www.goldenarrowbsa.org. There is a $5 entrance fee per car. Scouts will not be able to register the day of the event.

A membership person from the Boy Scouts organization will be at the race with information about area scouting opportunities.
