ABOUT THE TEXAS VOICES

Founded in 2003 by Artistic Director Alan Dyer, The Texas Voices is a non-profit, professional chamber choir that promotes choral artistry through exceptional music performances and the commission and premier of new choral works.

Since its inception, The Texas Voices has established a reputation for its engaging programming and nuanced, refined sound. The chorus has collaborated with a variety of emerging and established artists and composers.

To date, the chorus has premiered more than 52 original works, many of which have since been published by prestigious publishing houses such as Oxford University Press, Colla Voce, and Alliance Music. As a result, choirs around the globe are now performing music first performed by The Texas Voices.

Radio and television programs across the Metroplex have featured The Texas Voices in their on-air programming, including “Arts Café,” “Art Matters,” and “Music of the Metroplex” on WRR Classical 101.1 FM; “Community Focus” on KEOM FM; “Community Connection” on Time Warner Cable; and “Good Day” on FOX 4. The choir’s recording of James Mulholland’s A Red, Red, Rose has become a regular feature of WRR’s annual Valentine’s Day programming.

In 2005, the chorus welcomed Debra Scroggins as Composer-in-Residence. In 2008, the chorus produced its first CD, Voices Live. In 2010, the Texas Choral Directors Association invited The Texas Voices to perform as the featured artist at their statewide annual conference in San Antonio. In 2012, The Texas Voices marked its 50th world premiere concert.
