Plano East Head Coach Jordan Byrd

From freshmen to seniors, players in the Plano East Senior High baseball program recently joined members of the Plano East Baseball Booster Club to prepare the baseball fields and facilities at McMillen, Williams and Plano East for the upcoming high school baseball season.

“I was very proud of the young men in our program,” said Jordan Byrd, Plano East Baseball Head Coach. “They sacrificed their Saturday morning and worked hard for hours cleaning, repairing and painting to get everything ready at all three of our schools. They’ve worked hard in the off season to get in the best shape and hone their skills… all while keeping their grades up and volunteering in the community. Now they’re ready to compete against other area high schools in the spring baseball season. I’m excited to see these guys play at a very high level.”

The community is invited to participate in the 2018 Panther Baseball Home Run Derby starting at noon Saturday, February 3. For a $20 donation, participants will get 10 swings for a chance to hit one out of the park. Register the day of the event at the Plano East Baseball field. Contact Coach Byrd at with any questions.

The Plano East Baseball season kicks off February 6 with a 5 p.m. Varsity scrimmage against Trinity Christian Academy at Plano East. McMillen will scrimmage Wylie East at 5:30 p.m. at Wylie East, followed by a 7:30 p.m. scrimmage between Williams and Wylie East. District play begins March 13. Complete schedules are online at
