In 2008, the PISD Facilities and Technology Task Force program studied the needs of the district in order to apply for a bond program. Several areas were examined in the study by the Task Force which included construction of new facilities to accommodate growth, repair and renovation of schools to enable them to operate more efficiently, additions to existing facilities to accommodate increased enrollment and repair of major building systems and equipment that were unreliable or costly to operate.

As a result of the study, PISD did in fact receive a bond program and made it possible for the reconstruction of Memorial Elementary School in Plano.

The Plano ISD Board of Trustees invites the entire faculty, staff, students, families and community to celebrate its rededication ceremony of Memorial Elementary at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, at 2200 Laurel Lane in Plano. A reception and school tour will follow the ceremony.

Every detail of the school's design, from the family-friendly entryway to the instructional spaces, latest technology and even the font selected for the school name painted on the impressive foyer rotunda, was carefully selected by the architects, district personnel and Principal Sarika Pride and her “beautification team" at Memorial, including office administration and a group of teachers who worked closely together to organize the décor.

The former school building was originally constructed in 1967 and it took a collaborative effort to construct a brand new facility with months of planning and construction phases.

The Memorial Elementary School rededication ceremony will focus on its proud 45 years of memories and will also look forward to its new, redesigned and promising future in PISD.
