Carrolton, Dallas, Plano and Frisco residents recognized for outstanding academic performance

DALLAS – Oct. 16, 2012 — Twelve seniors at Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) have received letters of commendation from the National Merit® Scholarship Corporation in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement on the PSAT. Commended students comprise nearly 60 percent of the 50,000 students who achieve the highest PSAT scores in the country. This year, National Merit recognized about 34,000 students with letters of commendation. The following students from TCA received letters of commendation.

Carrollton residents include Daniel Davidson and Duncan Hurt.

Dallas residents include Brandon Galvan, Emily Jarvis, Stathi Pakes, Mason Porter, Adam Roossien, Ty Tamlyn and Avery Travis.

Frisco residents include Joey Gabriano and Connor Galvin.

Plano residents include Kaleb Fields.

“It is TCA’s mission to groom well-rounded, well-educated young people, and we are proud to have twelve students receive letters of commendation for their accomplishments and academic prowess,” said TCA Headmaster Dave Delph. “The National Merit Scholarship Corporation is a highly respected academic organization, and TCA is thrilled to have so many students recognized for their hard work and dedication.”

Commended students are named on the basis of a nationally applied selection index score that may vary from year to year. To participate in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship competition, students must have taken the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship qualifying test in October 2011, be enrolled as a high school student progressing normally toward graduation by 2013 and be a citizen of the United States or a lawful permanent resident.
