Braving rapidly falling temperatures, wind-blown rain and cold, stiff fingers, the McMillen High School Marching Band performed an amazing show at the Plano East Marching Invitational Saturday, October 5. The competition included marching bands from Allen, Frisco, McKinney, Plano, Prosper, Rowlett, The Colony and Wylie. McMillen’s show featured an “Arabian Knights” theme.

“The McMillen Band received seven First Division ratings from all seven judges at the contest,” said Nicholas Thomas, McMillen High School Band Director. “We received straight First Division Ratings from three UIL Format judges to earn a trophy for a Division One Superior Rating. The Band also received five additional trophies for the following performance captions: Music, Percussion, Marching, Color Guard, and Drum Major. We are very proud of all the effort they’ve put into the program this year.”

The McMillen Band will perform again at 10:30 a.m. this Saturday, October 12 for the Region 25 UIL Marching Contest at Clark Stadium off Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. The public is invited to attend.

McMillen High School is a two-year high school for grades 9 - 10 in the Plano Independent School District. It feeds into Plano East Senior High School for grades 11 - 12. More information is online at http://k12.pisd.edu/mcmillen-high-school
