Plano Fire-Rescue will host an awards ceremony Wednesday to recognize the City Level winners in the 2013 Fire Prevention Week Poster Contest. The ceremony will be held in the Senator Florence Shapiro Council Chambers at Plano’s Municipal Center and will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Each year since the early 1970s, Plano Fire-Rescue and Plano Independent School District have sponsored the poster contest locally. The contest is held statewide by the State Firemen’s and Fire Marshal’s Association of Texas. Winning posters from each Plano school move forward in competition to the City Level and are judged by Plano firefighters. These City Level winners will be recognized and given trophies at Wednesday’s ceremony. Their posters will move on to District Level competition at the District Meeting of the North Texas Firemen’s and Fire Marshal’s Association in March.
