Each month, Galleria Dallas partners with a local or national charity to shine a spotlight on their work with a Gallery Wall, located on Level 1 of the center adjacent to Sephora. November’s charity partner is The Salvation Army of North Texas, which serves our most vulnerable neighbors combatting poverty, addiction and homelessness in six North Texas counties. The educational Gallery Wall will be titled “Love Beyond Christmas,” a symbol of the resources and programs that thousands of North Texans rely on year-round when they turn to the region’s largest social service provider for assistance. As part of the exhibit, a giant Salvation Army Red Kettle will be set up for photo ops at the wall, and a QR code will allow visitors to donate to the virtual Red Kettle campaign.

The Salvation Army Band will perform at Galleria Dallas on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m., to celebrate the official start to the shopping and lifestyle center’s holiday season.

The partnership will also include the appearance of the annual Angel Tree on level 1 of the shopping center near Guest Services beginning Nov. 4. Forgotten Angel tags are available for selection on the Angel Tree through Dec. 3.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree program helps provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children, seniors, and special-needs adults around the country each year. Angels’ Christmas wish lists are shared with donors in the community who purchase gifts of new clothing and toys. The unwrapped gifts are then collected and distributed to the family to place under their Christmas tree.

“Every child deserves a gift under the tree during the holidays, and the Angel Tree helps us fulfill that part of our mission,” says Major Paul McFarland, area commander of The Salvation Army of North Texas. “But the Salvation Army serves on the frontlines in the fight against poverty, addiction and homelessness throughout the year, and generous donations from the community allow that important work to continue.”

For the second consecutive year, Galleria Dallas will give a special collectible ornament to the first 500 people who turn in their Angel Tree donations. This year’s ornament was commissioned from renowned local landscape artist Helen Lary. Angels may be adopted through Dec. 3. Donations may be turned in at the Angel Tree from Nov. 4-Dec. 5. A special drive-through donation drop-off area in front of Galleria Dallas off Dallas Parkway will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 3-4.

“The Salvation Army is the largest social service provider in North Texas, and it gives us pleasure to help support its mission each year,” said Galleria Dallas General Manager Angie Freed. “We hope our visitors are able to learn about the Salvation Army’s mission from the Gallery Wall and support them through Angel Tree or other donations.”

The exhibit at Galleria Dallas will be featured from Nov. 1 through the end of the year. Angel Tree donations will be accepted Nov. 4-Dec. 5.
