JPIIHS Senior Madison Fitzsimmons Signs With Stetson University

PIIHS Senior Madison Fitzsimmons signed to play volleyball for Division I Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. Fitzsimmons, who also plays club volleyball for Dallas Premier, will play for coach Kristina Hernandez in the Atlantic Sun Conference. “I chose Stetson because I loved the school, girls, coaches, location and everything it had to offer,” said Fitzsimmons.

Fitzsimmons, a four-year member of the varsity, stands out because of her leadership. “She’s brought great dedication and motivation to the team, and works hard to set a good example,” said JPIIHS volleyball coach Nicki Gonzalez. “I believe with her attitude and will to compete hard all the time will help her at the next level.”

She was named 2nd Team All-District as a freshman and sophomore, and was the All-District Defensive Player of the year as a sophomore. Her junior year, Fitzsimmons was named 1st Team All-District and 2nd Team All-State. This season, she led her teams to the second round of the playoffs and was named 1st Team All District, 1st Team All-State and District Offensive Player of the Year.

In addition to soccer, Madison is a very involved student. She’s a member of the Recruitment Leadership Council and Pro Life Club, volunteers with Mission Possible and Habitat for Humanity and was a Presidential Scholar her junior year.
