JPIIHS Women’s Varsity Basketball Coach Mike Martin has been named as an inductee to the Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame for 2017. He and other honorees from around the state will be inducted in a ceremony on Saturday, May 20, 2017.

Coach Martin has been at JPIIHS for four years, and has advanced to the TAPPS state playoffs in each of those years. He is in the top 10 Texas coaches in career victories with 870, and has had one undefeated season and a 63-game win streak. Martin was named the Texas Sports Writers Association Coach of the Year in 1994 and 1995 and served on the board of directors of the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

Coach Martin is not the only coach in the family as his wife, Kit, is the Women’s Varsity Head Basketball Coach at Mansfield Timberview High School. His two daughters, Brandy and Joey, reside in the Austin area.
