The Arthritis Foundation kicked-off the upcoming Dallas Arthritis Walk 2012 with special reception for teams, corporate sponsors and supporters at AMS Pictures in Far North Dallas on Feb. 23. During the event, Arthritis Foundation representatives helped participants learn more about the purpose of the Walk and offered tips on how they can recruit teams and raise funds for the upcoming Dallas Arthritis Walk, which will be held on Saturday, May 19 at 12700 Park Central at 10 a.m.

Special guests were also recognized during the kickoff reception including: Dallas Walk Hero, 3 year-old Courtney Warren who has juvenile Arthritis; and Dallas Walk Corporate Honoree Lawrence S. Pollock, III, President and CEO of Pollock Paper.

The Dallas Arthritis Walk is held in May to launch National Arthritis Month. The Arthritis Walk is the signature fundraising event for the Arthritis Foundation. The Walk is a celebration of year-round movement to help prevent and treat arthritis, the nation's most common cause of disability.

Participants walk in honor of a friend or family member with arthritis. The event features a three-mile and one-mile course, with arthritis information and activities for the entire family. Pet owners are invited to bring their dogs along for the event.

Although there are no fees to participate, walkers are asked to help further the mission of the Arthritis Foundation by setting a goal to make a difference. Those who raise $100 or more and are eligible for an Arthritis Walk t-shirt. When participants join the Dallas Arthritis Walk 2012, they become part of a community looking to achieve better health and change lives at the same time.
