Collin County has long been recognized by state and national music educators as a leading trend-setter for public school education.  This exceptional instruction by the local music professionals has created an environment where children and teens can thrive, especially in the area of choral music.

Because of this environment, the Children’s Chorus of Collin County is expanding the age groupings to include a third and fourth grade chorus.

“The exceptional choir skills offered to our older elementary, middle and high school singers is now being offered to third and fourth grade singers,” said Janie Oliver, Artistic Director for the Chorus. “We realized that the quality of instruction being taught by our public school music specialists allows us to offer this unique choral opportunity for younger singers.”

The Children’s and Youth Choruses of Collin County are poised to meet the need of providing residents of our area with an exceptional community choral organization.

“The rapid growth of our organization has allowed us to expand from a single choir, which originally accommodated singers in grades 5-7, to a Youth Chorus for middle school and high school singers, a Boys ensemble, as well as this new chorus for younger singers,” said Russ Porter, Executive Director for the Chorus organization. “We are seeking singers as well as individuals and local business donors to support our goal of reaching the residents of Collin County with premiere choirs for elementary, middle and high school singers.”

Auditions for the Children’s and Youth Choruses are being scheduled for Saturday, August 11 at the rehearsal site, 6601 Custer Rd, Plano. The new ‘Prelude’ Chorus is for boys and girls in grades 3- 4. The Children’s Chorus is for boys and girls in grades 5-7. The Youth Chorus is for students in grades 8-12. Auditions begin at 9:30 AM and may be scheduled by contacting the chorus office at 972-618-4536 or Janie@ChildrensChorusOfCollinCounty.org.
