Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic (PRAP) is proud to announce its 2017 scholarship recipients. Five $1,000 scholarships were awarded local young women for the 2017 – 2018 academic year, and the honorees were introduced at PRAP’s annual May “Scholarships and Salads” dinner meeting. The scholarship recipients are Rachel Daniels, Emily Dworkin, Anna Tomotaki, Brooke Benjamin, and Meredith Macnoll.
“The members of PRAP are thrilled to award scholarships to these deserving young women,” stated PRAP President Jean Callison. “Each one exhibits the ideals of our alumnae Panhellenic deeply held values - academic excellence, leadership and service to others.”
Rachel Daniels is a student at Texas Tech University, where she is majoring in Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha where she has held several offices and served most recently as Scholarship Chairman. Rachel is a 2014 graduate of Plano Senior High and is the daughter of Joanna Daniels and Glenn Daniels.
Emily Dworkin is majoring in cell and molecular biology at University of Michigan. She is Scholarship Vice President for Sigma Delta Tau sorority. Emily graduated from Plano West Senior High in 2015 and is the daughter of Ricki and Jeffrey Dworkin.
Anna Tomotaki serves as Vice President of Campus Affairs for Alpha Phi sorority. She attends University of Texas at Austin and is pursuing a BS in Nursing. Anna graduated form Plano Senior High in 2015 and is the daughter of Cynthia and Luis Tomotaki.
Brooke Benjamin, a 2017 graduate of Plano West Senior High, will attend Tulane University this fall, majoring in neuroscience and dance. Brooke is the daughter of Lisa and Brian Benjamin.
Meredith Macnoll will be a freshman at the University of Texas at Austin this fall and will study business / marketing. She is a 2017 graduate of Plano West Senior High and is the daughter of Deborah and Stephen Macnoll.
Applications are evaluated based upon the individual’s extracurricular involvement, leadership, community service, personal goals, and academic excellence. “We receive a large number of applications each year, which makes the selection process quite competitive,” said Diane Goebel, Scholarship Chairman. “We are extremely proud of this year’s scholarship recipients.“
“PRAP is fortunate to be able to support the young women of Plano and Richardson in achieving their educational goals,” added Donna Wilkinson, Fundraising Co-Chairman. “Both our home tour and live auction were a tremendous success, and we are thankful to those in our community who supported our fundraising mission, making it possible to award scholarships to five accomplished young women.”
Plano-Richardson Alumnae Panhellenic is an organization of more than 100 women dedicated to promoting inter-fraternity friendship and collaboration. PRAP is affiliated with the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) and serves the young women residing in the Plano and Richardson school districts. Membership is open to alumnae of the 26 NPC member sororities, and members meet monthly for social activities, informative programs, and fundraising events.
