The City of Plano is providing an opportunity for residents to be active in their community.  There are currently openings for several City boards and commissions, and residents interested in filling these positions are encouraged to submit an application.

Applications may be submitted at any time, and will be considered for currently-open positions, and any positions that open throughout the year.  In addition, the City Council may appoint short term committees for special purposes.

All appointees to City of Plano boards, commissions and committees must be residents of Plano for at least 12 months.  Also, current and valid voter registration is required.

Boards and commissions with open positions include:

  • Animal Shelter Advisory Committee — 3
  • Board of Adjustment — 3
  • Community Relations Commission — 2
  • Cultural Affairs Commission — 1 interim position
  • Heritage Commission — 3
  • Library Advisory Board — 4 + 1 interim position
  • Parks & Recreation Planning Board — 2
  • Planning & Zoning Commission — 3
  • Retirement Security Plan Committee — 1
  • Senior Citizens Advisory Board — 4
  • Tax Increment Financing Reivestment Zone #2 Board — 1 interim position
