More Than 20 Summer Camps Offered at CUMC

All summer long, Christ United Methodist Church is hosting summer camps for children between the ages of 3 and 12, with themes ranging from action-packed sports to mysterious crime-solving to silly Pinterest picture-taking. Each of these camps offers children a fun and engaging outlet for exploring, learning, and growing during their summer vacations. Camps run Monday through Thursday from either 9-12 or 1-4. Morning and afternoon sessions can be combined for a full day of fun.

CUMC offers a fostering environment for youth; while a child may be pressured to win at a municipal sports camp, for example, a more positive message is given at Christ United. The CUMC staff rejects the notion that children should define their worth by whether their team wins-- personal growth is what matters. Josh Beasley, the Director of Sports & Rec at CUMC, relates his experiences at some of the sports-themed activities: “Sometimes when kids get tagged out of a dodgeball game, they act like it’s the end of the world,” he says. “We have a positive, Christian environment here at Christ United. Like the Bible teaches us, it’s important to have spiritual, physical, and mental fitness. How the kids respond to failure is just as important as how they respond to winning-- perhaps more important.”

Registration is available on CUMC’s website, and camps start around $115. For more information regarding CUMC summer camps, please contact Josh Beasley at jbeasley@cumc.com.
