Christ Church Plano Names New Rector

Christ Church Plano, one of the largest Anglican churches in North America, has named The Rev. Canon Paul Donison as its new rector. He will be inducted in a January ceremony by Bishop Todd Hunter and Archbishop Foley Beach of the Anglican Church of North America.

Donison, 39, came to Plano from Ottawa, Canada where he served as rector of St. Peter and St. Paul’s Anglican Church for seven years. While there, he led strategy and events for the Anglican Network in Canada and, previously, he served as rector at parishes in British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Eastern Ontario Canada.

With a background in stage acting, Donison has become known for his ability to make the Bible come to life through storytelling and creative sermons. He said he wants Christ Church to be a place where people can find answers in the midst of cultural confusion.

“We want to be a place where people can explore their faith and grow in it—a place that honestly answers big questions. We also want to provide community and support for the people of Plano,” Donison said.

Donison, his wife and four daughters moved to Plano last summer and already have become a part of the community. While he has been officially serving as rector since November 2016, Donison will be formally inducted on January 8, 2017.

Christ Church Plano was founded by The Very Rev. Canon David Roseberry in 1985. Roseberry recently moved to a new role as a church-planting and growth consultant. Christ Church is a biblically centered Anglican parish that is dedicated to Christian growth and discipleship, local and global missions, effective children’s ministry, and warm hospitality. The church is located at 4550 Legacy Drive in Plano and at www.christchurchplano.org.
