The III Forks Golf Classic and Auction Dinner benefiting TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation will tee off May 4 and 5. The May 4 auction dinner will feature a live auction, a silent auction and dinner prepared by III Forks Steakhouse executive chef and proprietor Chris Vogeli. The following day, May 5, more than 130 golfers will gather at the prestigious Gleneagles Country Club in Plano to compete in the 10th annual III Forks Golf Classic.

“The two-day event is about more than golf, it is about helping children who are fighting one of the biggest battles of their life… cancer,” said Joy Cruse, founder of TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation. “The people who participate in the golf tournament are my heroes because they take time out of their busy schedules to support children who do not have a voice in fighting this terrible disease. We are so appreciative of every dollar contributed to the event which funds more research that will lead us to a cure.”

An exciting addition this year to the III Forks Golf Classic is the helicopter drop, sponsored by Richard Asel, wealth management advisor for Northwestern Mutual - Dallas. All golfers have the option to purchase a chance to participate in the helicopter drop. Each golfer will receive a numbered golf ball, which will be dropped from the helicopter onto the driving range and the ball closest to the selected hole will win $1,000.

Also new this year, each registered foursome will have one designated caddie that will stay with the team throughout the tournament. The caddies can give the golfers advice, clean up divots, and also keep score on paper as well as electronically through the Leaderboard scoring system.

Foursomes or tickets for the III Forks Golf Classic can be purchased at www.IIIForksGolfClassic.org.

III Forks is the title sponsor with Northwestern Mutual – Dallas coming in as the presenting sponsor for the 2014 III Forks Golf Classic. Additional sponsors include Crest Cadillac, Scott and Candy Lane, Rich and Becky Welday, Charles Armstrong, Covenant Church, Alex Beilin, Anchor Distilling Company, Loren Hsaio, Partners National, Office Interiors Group, Benefits Texas, Wings by Metten, Jordan, Houser & Flournoy, The Beck Group, Scott & Reid and Richard Asel.

The III Forks Golf Classic has raised more than $625,000 for TeamConnor over a three-year period, which helps fund numerous childhood cancer research projects across the country.

TeamConnor hosts several events throughout the year to raise funds for childhood cancer research, including the National Childhood Cancer Awareness Prayer Vigil and Concert September 20; Color Me Green 5K and Caterpillar Dash October 5; and Northwestern Mutual Clay Shoot November 6. In addition, TeamConnor’s national Coins for Kids with Cancer program raises funds in schools, churches, offices and organizations to help fund childhood cancer research.

Worldwide, a child is diagnosed with cancer every three minutes. In the United States, cancer kills more children every year than AIDS, asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and congenital anomalies combined. Yet, the National Cancer Institute allocates less than four percent of its funds to pediatric cancer research. TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation is dedicated to serving families, building awareness, and raising funds for research to help cure childhood cancer.
