The Legacy Senior Communities’ Campuses Recognized for Providing Top Quality Service

For 60 years, The Legacy Senior Communities, Inc. has been providing exceptional services for seniors and their families. That track record was recently acknowledged when The Legacy Willow Bend in Plano and The Legacy Preston Hollow in Dallas received five-star ratings by U.S. News & World Report which landed them on the list of the best nursing homes in the country for 2014. The recognition highlights the organization’s dedication to the residents and families the communities serve every day.

“Our communities are not-for-profit, and we are motivated by serving seniors and their families,” said Michael Ellentuck, President and CEO of The Legacy Senior Communities. “This recognition is a confirmation of the staff’s experience and commitment.  I am proud to be part of an organization with such dedicated people who truly make a difference.”

The U.S. News and World Report’s distinguished list of the top nursing homes in the United States is determined by a review of community scores given by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services. Only 3,800 made the cut out of the nearly 16,000 nursing homes evaluated. The three main categories considered are based on a five-star rating system including health inspections, nurse staffing and quality measures. To be on the list, the community must earn an overall five-star rating, which both The Legacy Willow Bend and The Legacy Preston Hollow achieved.

“Earning these ratings is a reflection of the quality of care and service provided by staff members, and it’s also a celebration of the Jewish community. The support our organization receives is tremendous,” said Ellentuck. “We’re an important resource for those in need. The fundraising efforts and generosity shown by the Jewish community enables us to provide a high level of care without ever having to turn people away due to financial issues. We ensure the circle of life remains complete.”

Ellentuck has been leading The Legacy Senior Communities for 13 years, and personally has dedicated 40 years to the senior housing industry. With 8,000 baby boomers hitting age 65 each day, Ellentuck makes sure The Legacy Senior Communities’ staff members are focused on directly involving family members, and they deliver the best customer service possible. As an organization, including both campuses and The Legacy at Home – a home health care option for seniors in the Greater Dallas area, they served more than 2,000 families last year.
